Caterpillar Chaos
Pātangaroa taught us how to play Caterpillar Chaos today. It was very funny when we kept losing the tail of our caterpillar. It was a really interesting game, and we really liked it. The particularly cool thing about learning it was that we were the teina, learning from Pātangaroa who were the tuakana today. Pātangaroa - thank you for teaching us a fun game, we hope you will teach us some more. Thank you for having us!
PS Mrs Grant, we just want to remind that WP written on the tennis balls means Whaea Pip, not Wrs Prant.

#becybersafekids
In Tokoeka class, we had a great discussion today about ways we can keep ourselves safe on the internet. All tamariki Seesaw'ed a poster home today about cyber safety, and will have lots of knowledge to share.
The main points we discussed were:
The main points we discussed were:
- Scary images and YouTube clips on things like Momo, Slender Man and 3am challenges are NOT REAL
- Following the app/movie/game age restrictions, especially when they are searching the internet independently. The age restrictions are there to suggest the age a person will be old enough to enjoy the app/movie/game and be able to work out what is real and what is not by themselves
- In the event they come across an image or an idea that is scary or makes them uncomfortable, they need to seek support from an adult
- Using kid-friendly sites like Kidrex and YouTube Kids will avoid advertisements for movies and games that are scary or not suitable for children
- If they are using social media, they need to turn off the location services, and create a private account. Never share their full name, address, or identifying features (like the school they attend or groups they belong to). We also discussed that using a picture (ie a cartoon of their favourite animal) is a safe option for their profile photo
- That a friend is a person you know, someone you would recognise and stop to talk to on the street. If it is a person that you do not know, block them or do not accept their friend request
- If anyone is unkind to them online, they need to block them and report it to an adult immediately
- Do not share passwords.
Thank you Siobhan and Joanne - your input was most appreciated! 😼

Tuakana teina with Kererū class
As part of our wet-weather Health and PE programme, we are spending time with a group of teina. An older or more expert tuakana (Tokoeka) helps guide a younger or less expert teina (Kererū class) to learn Toia. Tokoeka were incredible tuakana...as usual! 😊
Then we got together with Mokomoko (tuakana) and Tuatara (teina) and it was tu meke!
