We are learning about manaakitanga this week - the process of showing respect, generosity and care for others. As part of practicing aroha mai (love in), aroha atu (out), we all showed kindness to each other by writing a compliment to our peers anonymously (aroha atu).
We then all got to read the kind things our classmates had said about us (aroha mai), and some of the words we used to describe how it felt reading them afterwards were: happy, excited, joyful, that our class thought we were a kind person, excited, pleased... nothing but positive! Our buckets were very full today.

War food...
For soldiers who were involved in fighting in Gallipoli, they were given Bully Beef as part of their rations. It was canned meat. Mrs Grant kindly bought us a tin to try...it smelt like dog food, it looked like tuna and it tasted like creamy corned beef. They often had flies in their food and there was almost nothing fresh. We are really glad we don't have to eat this every day (although, you will see that the plate was cleared by Tokoeka class!)
