War food...

For soldiers who were involved in fighting in Gallipoli, they were given Bully Beef as part of their rations.  It was canned meat.  Mrs Grant kindly bought us a tin to try...it smelt like dog food, it looked like tuna and it tasted like creamy corned beef.  They often had flies in their food and there was almost nothing fresh.  We are really glad we don't have to eat this every day (although, you will see that the plate was cleared by Tokoeka class!)
